SMA Panel-Mount Jack Characteristics

The SMA-female panel-mount jack has a four-hole square mounting flange, for a rigid mechanical installation on the exterior of a case, device or enclosure.

The SMA-female end is specifically designed for secure panel mounting. Unlike a conventional inline SMA connector, the jack incorporates a four-hole square flange that can be fastened directly to a chassis, enclosure wall, equipment panel, or mounting plate.

The flange measures approximately 12.7 × 12.7 mm and uses four 2.6 mm diameter mounting holes. The mounting-hole centers are approximately 8.65 mm apart horizontally and vertically.

This four-point mounting arrangement provides excellent mechanical stability and helps prevent rotation or movement of the connector when antennas or RF cables are repeatedly connected and disconnected.

The opposite end is terminated with a standard straight SMA-male connector, making the assembly convenient for connecting an internal radio, modem, RF module, PCB-mounted interface, or other SMA-female RF port to the panel-mounted external connection.

Low-Loss 100-Series Coaxial Cable

The assembly uses compact 100-series low-loss coaxial cable, suitable for applications where both low RF attenuation and a relatively small cable diameter are important. This cable class provides an excellent compromise between flexibility, space efficiency, and signal-loss performance for short internal RF connections.  This coax is double-shielded, low-loss, and very flexible/easily bendable. In fact, its quality is equivalent to or better than LMR100. Coax with a black jacket has the same or better signal loss per meter and flexibility as LMR100 and less attenuation (signal loss) than RG174 and RG178. This superior quality translates into lower loss and better performance, giving you the confidence that you're using the best cable for your antenna. The cable is equivalent to LMR-100 in thickness.

  • SMA gender is counter-intuitive: The gender is referring to the pins inside-not the threads. SMA male has threads on inside.
