SMA-Female to N male Cable: 18-inch, 20FT, 20FT
- Our SMA-Female to N male Cable is not just for antennas and antenna cables. It's a versatile solution that allows devices with N female and SMA male interfaces to be interconnected, making it ideal for a wide range of wireless devices.
- One end has an SMA-female connector, and the other has an N-type connector with a waterproof/weatherproof O-ring.
- See other N to SMA cable options & adapters
- For coaxial extension, coaxial interface conversion, coax retrofit applications
- Rest assured, our SMA-Female to N male Cable is crafted with high-quality materials and features Data Alliance's superior soldered terminations of SMA and Type-N connectors. This ensures a low-loss connection with discontinuities kept to a minimum, guaranteeing reliable performance.
Antenna Cable Coax is double-shielded, low-loss, and very flexible.
- The cable type for the 18-inch version is equivalent to or better than LMR-100: Coax with a black jacket has the same or better signal loss per meter and flexibility as LMR100 and less attenuation (signal loss) than RG174. The higher quality of the cable of this antenna translates into lower loss/better performance.
- The cable type for the 20FT version is equivalent to or better than LMR-200: Coax with a black jacket has the same or better signal loss per meter and flexibility as LMR100 and less attenuation (signal loss) than RG58. The higher quality of the cable of this antenna translates into lower loss/better performance.
- In both cases, the cables are rated for outdoor use and are also suitable for indoor use.
The temperature range for the operational use of these cable assemblies is as follows:
- Cables with 100-series coax: -22 F ~ +185 F (-30 C ~ +85 C)
- Cables with 200-series coax: -31 F ~ +203 F (-35 C ~ +95 C)
SMA Connector Characteristics and Details
SMA female connector includes a bulkhead nut and washer:
- You can use this to mount the connector (and thus the cable) on the wall of an enclosure (to weatherproof the cable connection), case, or Printed Circuit Board (PCB).
- Weatherproofing: Seal the hole where the female connector is mounted by placing an O-ring between the enclosure's wall and the bulkhead nut and washer on the female connector.
- Our standard SMA-female connector (threaded part) is 3/8 inches (9.525mm) long. We have a more extended option, 14.5mm, which we can use for special-order cable requests.
- All our cables with SMA and RP-SMA female connectors have bulkhead mount hardware.
- SMA Gender Determination: Key Point
- SMA gender is counter-intuitive: Please observe the picture & note it is correct.
- The gender refers to the pins inside--not the threads. SMA male has threads on the inside.

N-Type RF Connector: Key Features and Technical Specifications
Largest of the RF Connector Types
The N-Type connector is the largest among standard RF connector formats, offering superior mechanical durability and handling for rugged and high-power applications.
Weather-Sealed Bulkhead Design
The N-Female bulkhead variant is equipped with a rubber O-ring at its base, ensuring a watertight seal when mounted through enclosure panels—ideal for outdoor and harsh-environment installations.
Corrosion-Resistant Nickel-Plated Brass Body
Constructed from nickel-plated brass, the connector body delivers outstanding corrosion resistance. Nickel plating is among the most robust protective finishes for weather-exposed RF components.
Precise Connector Dimensions
-
N-Female outer diameter: 0.620 inches (1.57 cm)
-
N-Male inner diameter: 0.620 inches (1.57 cm)
These standardized measurements ensure consistent fit and performance across compatible hardware.
High-Frequency Performance
N-Type connectors are commonly rated for operation up to 12.5 GHz, supporting use in Wi-Fi, LTE, and the upper microwave frequency bands.
Gender Identification Note
N-Type connector gendering can be counter-intuitive. For detailed guidance on correctly identifying N-male and N-female variants, click here (link placeholder for gendering guide).
Knurled N-Male Design for Secure Handling
The N-Male connector features a knurled outer grip, offering better tactile control and ease of hand-tightening in field or bench setups.
N materials composition:
- Connector Body: Nickel-Plated Brass: The most corrosion-resistant plated brass alloys (better than gold-plated).
- Center Contact: Beryllium Copper, Gold Plated
- Crimp Ferrule: Copper, Nickel Plated
- Insulators: PTFE
Compatibility with wireless applications:
Our N to SMA antenna cables are compatible with a wide range of wireless applications due to their frequency band compatibility (0GHz to 18GHz), consistently low broadband VSWR, and impedance matching to 50 Ohm cables. They support all WiFi standards, including 2.4GHz and 8GHz applications such as Wi-Fi HaLow 802.11AH, 802.11AX, 802.11AC, 802.11N, 802.11G, 802.11B, and 802.11A. Additionally, they are suitable for cellular wireless LTE / 4G, GSM / 3G, and WiMax for data and voice applications. Our cables also work with IoT wireless, automation, and Machine to Machine (M2M) applications like Bluetooth, ZigBee, WiFi HaLow, RFID, LoRa, LTE-m, and NB-IoT, WiFi 6, WiFi 6E.
We prioritize your safety. All our antenna cables and adapters, including the SMA-Female to N male Cable, are ROHS & REACH compliant. This means they are free of lead and other toxic materials restricted by RoHS 3 and REACH, ensuring safe and worry-free use.
